Michael Enscore READY TO LEAD NCHBA in 2021
TOP: Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, NCHBA held its annual 4th Quarter Board Meeting and Installation virtually on Tuesday, December 8. Michael Enscore, president of Veritas Construction, a custom home builder in Kernersville, NC, was installed as the 2021 President of the North Carolina Home Builders Association. Enscore is a member of the HBA of Winston-Salem.

For a year unlike any other, it seems appropriate that the installation of Michael Enscore as the 2021 President of the North Carolina Home Builders Association was also without precedent. Due to rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in North Carolina, NCHBA made the difficult decision to cancel the traditional December in-person installation and instead hold the event virtually.

Enscore greeted the news in his characteristically calm demeanor. He is cool in crisis and sees the bigger picture. He understands that the work of NCHBA is not about him but about the success of our members and the health of North Carolina’s home building industry. Enscore is the type of person who would rather trade the spotlight for getting straight to work.

His calmness and get-it-done attitude are products of being a third-generation builder. It’s in his blood. A builder doesn’t worry if something doesn’t go according to plan. Instead, he anticipates how to respond to and fix the problem.

“I grew up learning that problem-solving requires patience and a positive attitude,” Enscore said. “Rushing yourself or getting bent out of shape when a problem comes up just makes a bad situation worse.

Identifying a solution and getting everyone focused on working toward that solution makes a big difference.”

Enscore has applied those lessons to his business, Veritas Construction, a custom home building firm based out of Kernersville, NC. He says in business he values truthfulness and accuracy. Those qualities have helped him earn the trust of families looking to build a home. They’ve also helped him earn the trust and respect of his industry peers and the greater Kernersville and Winston-Salem communities at large.

Enscore has been an active member of the Winston-Salem HBA, where he has served on numerous committees and in leadership positions, including as President in 2016. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Korner’s Folly, a historic Kernersville home that’s become a regional landmark known for its eccentric architecture and interior design.

At NCHBA, Enscore has served as a Regional Vice President and was elected to the leadership ladder in 2018 as First Vice President. As he takes the reigns as president, Enscore brings experience having been part of the leadership team to guide NCHBA through a crisis that quickly scrambled 2020 –COVID 19.
