REMINDER: Deadline For General Contractors To Complete Continuing Education Is November 30, 2020

North Carolina General Contractors have many providers to choose from to complete their 8-hour continuing education (CE) requirement. Here’s what makes the North Carolina Builder Institute (NCBI) different: NCBI is the only CE provider with two decades of experience educating builders. Since 2000, builders have trusted NCBI for their professional development. All of our classes are approved by the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors and count toward fulfilling the 8-hour CE requirement. Our 60+ classes are taught by local North Carolina builders and other experts who are leaders in their fields.

Classes That Interest Builders and Fit Their Busy Schedules

Moreover, NCBI lets students choose the classes that interest them. The 8-hour course requirement includes a mandatory 2-hour course (M2020), while the remaining 6 hours are divided into two-and four-hour elective courses. NCBI lets students choose their elective topics instead of signing them up for 8 hours not knowing what to expect.

Our Live Virtual Classes are offered multiple times a week to better fit builders' schedules. Every day we offer classes, three consecutive courses are taught consisting of a total of 8 credit hours. However, it’s up to the individual student whether he or she wants to take all eight hours in one day or split it up. IMPORTANT: If you wish to register for the entire 8 hours of course credit in one day, you will need to select ALL THREE CLASSES offered on that date.

What Do Classes Cost?

There is no difference in price whether classes are taught in-person or online via Zoom. Two-hour classes are $45 and four-hour classes are $90. To complete your 8-hours of CE, it is a total cost of $180. Note: HBA members receive a discount when you add your member PIN number to your account.

The North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors has set certain standards for participating in a live virtual class. At a minimum you will need a desktop or laptop computer with a functioning camera and microphone and have access to a strong internet connection. You will need to turn your camera on to show a photo ID during check-in and leave it on for the duration of the class for NCBI to ensure that you are actively participating. You will also need access to Zoom. The Zoom app can be downloaded at zoom. us/support/download. You will be emailed a link to join the class.
