Through November 30, 2020, the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors (NCLBGC) allows the North Carolina Builder Institute (NCBI) to offer you real-time virtual classroom courses (in other words, a class via Zoom) to help general contractors complete their required 8 hours of continuing education (CE) for license renewal.
The North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors has set certain standards for participating in a live virtual class. At a minimum you will need a desktop or laptop computer with a functioning camera and microphone and have access to a strong internet connection. You will need to turn your camera on to show a photo ID during check-in and leave it on for the duration of the class for NCBI to ensure that you are actively participating. You will also need access to Zoom. The Zoom app can be downloaded at zoom. us/support/download. You will be emailed a link to join the class.
Yes. The 8-hour CE requirement includes a two-hour mandatory class with information about changes in the laws and rules and other content applicable to general contracting. The remaining 6 hours are divided into two-and four-hour elective courses. NCBI offers all of these courses through both in-person and virtual settings.
There is no difference in price whether classes are taught in-person or online via Zoom. Two-hour classes are $45 and four-hour classes are $90. To complete your 8-hours of CE, it is a total cost of $180. Note: HBA members receive a discount when you add your member PIN number to your account.
