Builders Classic Golf Tournament, Canceled Due To COVID-19, Still Raises Money For Scholarships Thanks To Generous Sponsors And Teams

The 18th annual Builders Classic Golf Tournament would have taken place in April in Raleigh, however the spread of COVID-19 meant that the event had to be canceled. Despite this unexpected turn of events, many of the registered teams and sponsors agreed to remain committed to the tournament in order to benefit the scholarship fund for post-secondary students studying for a career in the construction industry.

Altogether this generosity raised $8,320 for two-and four-year college students who are immediate family members of an NCHBA member.

“NCHBA is incredibly thankful for the teams and sponsors who held the line in support of the future of our industry,” said Phil Warrick, NCHBA Immediate Past President and chair of the North Carolina Home Builders Educational & Charitable Foundation, Inc. “It is another example of how our industry steps up in times of uncertainty.”

Since 2002, NCHBA members and their guests have participated in the Builder Classic Golf Tournament to raise more than $150,000 to provide scholarships to more than 60 deserving college students majoring in a construction-related field.

NCHBA looks forward to seeing everyone in person at the 2021 Builders Classic Golf Tournament. More details about that tournament will be shared on our website, nchba.org/golf-tournament.
