President’s Message
See You In Charlotte

Phil Warrick

I’m excited for the upcoming 17th annual 21st Century Building Expo & Conference September 10-12 in Charlotte. I hope you’ll join me for three days of education, networking and professional development. The show is a great opportunity to take a step back from your day-to-day routine to connect with your peers, learn from them and to grow professionally.

Not to mention, you can explore the many new building products, services and latest technology on 21CBEC’s 80,000-square-foot Expo Floor. Each year when I walk the floor, I always find at least one new solution that could save me money or help me run a better business. Plus, the relationships you create translate to faster answers from exhibitors and better service. Go to page 11 of this issue for a “Guide To The Expo Floor” and plan your visit to the Charlotte Convention Center.

Moreover, 21CBEC will again present a robust Educational Conference featuring more than 40 educational classes and seminars. I ask you to consider investing your time and resources in these classes. You won’t regret it. The real-world knowledge and business insights about every aspect of the home building industry, from how to market new homes to managing your workforce and brushing up on the latest building code changes, will make a difference for you and your employees. You can view all that this year’s Educational Conference offers on pages 4-5 of this issue.

Finally, let’s not forget that 21CBEC is a celebration of our industry. This year’s theme is “Building Community,” which I believe is a powerful description of what we’re all about. In the last century, home ownership has fueled an ever-growing middle class, a strong US economy and created hundreds of thousands of new communities. It’s in these communities where new generations of families have attained the American Dream, formed lasting friendships and woven the fabric of a strong society.

As home building professionals, we’re privileged to have a hand in making these communities possible. We’ll celebrate the importance of community over all three days at 21CBEC, beginning with the Kick-Off Celebration on Tuesday, September 10 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Then on Wednesday, September 11 join us for our first-ever Block Party from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. And on Thursday, September 12 there’s a new Networking Breakfast from 8:00 am to 9:00 am that’s free for attendees and exhibitors. Check the “Schedule At-A-Glance” on page 10 for a full list of everything that’s happening this year.

I’ll see you soon!
