I am excited to see the many civic activities that our local HBAs are involved in across our state. For example, getting involved in the public schools to inspire students to the rewarding opportunities in our industry; the many Habitat for Humanity home building blitzes across our state; providing new homes for the many wounded veterans in our state; and the many other ways we show the public that home builders care. Nothing is more heartwarming than seeing a family move into their own new home, for many their first home.
I have been blessed to serve you as President for the many reasons listed above and for many more too numerous to mention. You have heard me ask the question, “Why do you do what you do?” These are the reasons I do what I do, and I love what I do serving you in any capacity that I am able. So I ask you again, “Why do you do what you do?”
As I pass the gavel on to Sean Sullivan and his team, NCHBA will experience a new generation of leadership that is very exciting. With this comes renewed energy and enthusiasm that makes me extremely proud of his team and the accomplishments and successes for the future of our association.
Last, I ask you to remember the mission of the North Carolina Home Builders Association … in short, “to provide safe and affordable housing for the people of North Carolina.” Through advocacy, we will protect the right for our children, grandchildren and generations to come to own their new home.
So I say so long to you as your President, however I will continue my quest to visit all 63 local home builders associations and talk to many of our 13,800+ members in 2015. My wish for all of you is for a very happy holiday season and a very prosperous New Year.
Thanks for the privilege and honor. I have been inspired!
